Trust your intuition and success will follow

A physiotherapist by profession but a personal development tragic by inclination, I grew up in an abusive home with a hard-drinking, hard-living father who took every opportunity to destroy our self-esteem and abuse us physically, emotionally and mentally. We (my mother and five siblings), were all in some way 'damaged goods' by this experience.

I always felt there was more! More to life, more to me...even more to my Dad! That sense created a hunger leading to a voyage of discovery that has fueled my life since I was a boy. I was introspective and thoughtful, asking the big questions. What was life all about? Does life have meaning? Is there a God? Am I an accident or do I have a purpose? Am I significant or insignificant? Am I the victim of fate or the result of my choices? Is life limited or limitless?

I have wondered and mulled these questions all my life and my conclusions have led me to personal healing, forgiveness, fullness of life and business success but my passion is showing others how to break free of the shackles of the past, the psychology that limits them and create the life they want!!

... when I was fourteen my mother booked my brother and me into a personal development weekend run by the MLM cosmetic company she had become involved with. My mother had been inspired and had her eyes opened to a different future and wanted us to have the same epiphany... and for me it was!

On that weekend I heard the legendary Earl Nightingale say, "We become what we think about." It felt true and was a revelation to me. I didn't know what to do with the information ... that came later, but it triggered a lifetime interest in the psychology of personal transformation, the gaining of wisdom and exploring the spiritual life.

... when I was sixteen I had read books like "The Power Of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale,   "Think And Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill (the personal development bible) and Dale Carnegie's classic, "How To Win Friends And Influence People". Was my life reflecting these new insights and visions of a different life? Far from it... I understood some of the principles intellectually but such was the desperate state of my self-worth and self-image that I continued to feel insignificant, undeserving and valueless. Amongst teenage angst, a dysfunctional and abusive home life, falling grades in school and my parents disintegrating marriage, my mind and my mindset needed some serious re-modeling.

This came in the form of a spiritual awakening when I was seventeen and another personal development course when I was twenty-one. The spiritual awakening is a whole other story which I explain more fully in Robert Falzon's book, "The Father Factor". Suffice to say I am Christian with high regard and respect for anyone pursuing a spiritual and/or religious life as I feel the healthy individual is he who grows in mind, body and soul.

The second transformative event was a course run by Louis E Tice and his company The Pacific Institute. His course 'Investment In Excellence' collated a lot of the understandings I had gained in my reading but gave it a practical spin with techniques and skills to retrain errant subconscious programming that may be disempowering us. Lou's wise words and insights formed the cornerstone of my personal transformation.

On the back of these revelations, life took a more positive spin. My academic life improved such that I achieved a Bachelors Degree In Applied Science (Physiotherapy) and later a Post.Graduate Diploma In Musculoskeletal physio. I took a one-man practice with one employee and built a seven-figure practice employing 19 people which I sold to a corporate group and that has allowed me to further explore this passion of mine, of teaching and helping people understand the power of their minds to change and transform their existence.

I married well!!! Happily married to the amazing Anne for 32 years with six gorgeous much-loved children ( and now grandchildren). In other facets of my life, I have been active in sport, youth work, marriage guidance, mentoring, speaking, music & drama. After a rocky start, I have lead a blessed life and my earnest desire is to share my self-improvement journey with anyone feeling trapped in a life that is not rewarding and fulfilling.
